For Authors
We offer unprecedent intellectual work to the Italian market, translated in Italian, or in English. We specialise in first editon of non-Italian writers working in the arts, cinema, and fiction, who focuse on archival and academic research. The end result can be in the form of an anthology of chapters, fiction or poetry.
The manuscript you send in undergoes a rigorous peer-review process. It is our policy to peer review all proposed book projects before offering a contract.
We do not accept manuscript on a ‘pay to publish’ service.
After being accepted for publication by an Commissioning Editor, we will agree about the specifics of your book with you in your publishing contract, and include the delivery deadline, the word count and number of illustrations. Other responsibilities may include securing permission to use any previously published material.
The Proposal
Here is a list of common components of the proposal we ask to send in, plus two chapters as an example of your writing skills (in English, or in Italian):
- Author/Editor names and affiliations
- Suggested book title
- Status of manuscript (e.g. “idea” or “complete draft”)
- Book description
- Table of contents
- Chapter abstracts and keywords
- Length and schedule
- Illustrations
- Breadth of market
- International appeal
- Primary audience
- Secondary audience(s)
- Relevant courses/organizations that may use your book
- Competing and related titles (including pros and cons vs your book)
- Third-party material
- Potential reviewers/referees
- Your updated CV
Your proposal will be looked at closely by the most suitable Commissioning Editor and an answer will be formulated according to these questions:
- Is the content of this book of a high academic standard?
- Is there a market for a book on this subject?
- If there is a gap in the market, is this the right book to fill it?
The Peer Review Process
If the editor is satisfied at this stage, then the proposal will be evaluated by experts. Reviewers are chosen because they have expert knowledge in the field. We ask for constructive criticism for your manuscript, comments that will help you shape your manuscript to bring value to the marketplace.
